Director of Studies – Adults

【Job Responsibilities】 •Manage remotely a large team of teachers of EFL/ESL physically located across the world •Interview potential new teachers and determine suitability for employment •Ensure that all aspects of the engagement process are completed satisfactorily (e.g., background checks, service agreements) •Complete a pre-assigned schedule of video observations of teachers, with feedback •Assign selected teachers to special areas of responsibility (e.g., examination courses, demonstration classes, lectures) •Liaise with and delegate tasks to a team of teacher representatives and mentors •Deal appropriately with any teachers giving cause for concern •Oversee a program of professional development of teachers, including some retraining of current staff •Liaise closely with colleagues working on materials development and operational matters •Liaise with colleagues in other departments with a view to ensuring a quality experience for clients •Contribute to specific projects, which may include, but not be limited to, tailor-made courses for companies and promotional events •Cover for the Director of Studies – Juniors in the event of his/her absence 【Job Requirements】 •Resident in Taipei, or planning to relocate, with appropriate employment rights in Taiwan •Native speaker of English •Internationally recognized TEFL/TESOL qualification (higher-level preferred) •Substantial experience teaching English to adult learners at all levels, preferably including TOEIC, also TOEFL and/or IELTS •Ability to work with, and to assist teachers to work with, material designed by external providers including Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press and Barron’s •Familiarity with business English and/or the business environment highly desirable •Familiarity with both face-to-face and online teaching highly desirable •Desire to take on senior management responsibilities •Able to manage remotely a large team of online teachers •Skilled, or keen to acquire skills, in interviewing and observing teachers •Positive and proactive attitude •Good communicator •Good ‘people person’ •Commitment to high standards, pedagogically and operationally •Holding a growth mindset, enjoying challenges, able to adjust to different situations •Able to execute decisions and strategies with a high degree of efficiency •Able to solve problems proactively and take appropriate action •Self-disciplined, self-motivated, self-managed •Able to achieve goals independently and through teamwork •Familiar with Microsoft Office; good computer skills generally •Background check(s) required 【Benefits with the TutorABC Family】 •Free learning resource: Mandarin courses available 24/7 •Labor insurance, health insurance, group insurance, and labor pension fund are all covered •Special discounts for employee referrals and rewards for employees •Monthly tea time •Monthly birthday celebration •Annual banquet •Coffee/beverage/snack bar •Subsidies for weddings, funerals, childbirth, sickness •Gifts for New Year, Dragon Boat Festival, and Moon Festival 【Health Care】 •Regular massage service •5-star employee lounge •Health consultation •Lactation room
