Material Planner
Create, validate and maintain a valid materials plan based upon the Master Plan and Master Production Schedule. Ensure the right materials are procured at the right time, quality and quantity to minimize production and storage costs, based on the material plan. Develop and provide expected demand for material requirements to suppliers on regular basis. Obtain supply capability confirmation. Schedule and manage the execution of material deliveries against existing contracts or purchase orders. Assess and respond to expected raw material storage and distribution capacity requirements based upon supplier lead times. Lead resolution of short-term supply/demand imbalances for materials. Identify and initiate response to material service/quality complaints from contract manufacturing/supplier. Initiate return material process involving QA and Sourcing. Participate in and provide data for evaluation of supplier service performance and work with sourcing and suppliers to improve performance. Execute the plans for non-productive materials for disposition. Manage health of raw materials, semi-finished and packaging materials Plan movement of sourced/in-process product from a stocking location to a specific point of use location. Manage levels, replenishment models, product mixes and stocking locations for in-process product. Participates or host in daily/weekly planning meetings and represents material plans as appropriate Communicates with contract manufacturing, plant technical, purchasing, and master scheduling personnel regarding supply problems and their resolutions Utilize the system(s) of record to plan and execute material procurement and identify issues where appropriate. Leads the continuous improvement of the material planning process Maintain accurate material and supplier master data including planning parameters such as order quantities or lot sizes, lead times and safety stocks. Identify inaccurate material inventory records and initiate actions to address. Partner with the broader supply chain and commercial teams to maximize supply during periods where demand exceeds capability to supply. Participate with Product Development teams and product management to procure raw materials associated with approved product development plans.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s in material management, supply chain, engineering, or business
5-7 years of experience in supply chain or related field
APICS CPIM Certification Preferred
Familiar and competent in use of SAP/APO preferred
Demonstrated strength in planning and organization skills
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially in Excel
Proactive attitude, able to work under pressure and strong teamwork with different groups
Good at work follow-up, with sense of urgency to meet commitments.
