STDS - Principal Statistician (Team Leader)

【Job Overview】

In this position, the Principal Statistician (Team Leader) can expect to work closely with experts from various domains to solve critical business and engineering problems in high impact projects that affect the entire organization. Experience in managing projects and leading people is expected.

【Main Responsibilities】

•　Collaborate with product development teams to design and analyze experiments for new product features and improvements. •　Work closely with manufacturing teams to optimize production processes through statistical analysis and modeling. •　Partner with quality control teams to develop and implement statistical quality control methods. •　Collect and clean data from various data sources. (e.g. SQL databases, CSV files) •　Analyze functional data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can drive decision-making. •　Develop and apply causal models to understand the impact of various factors on product performance and quality. •　Provide statistical expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams. •　Design and conduct hypothesis tests, regression analyses, and other statistical methods to support business objectives. •　Understand the potential and limitations of data and analytical methods. •　Tailor and enhance data or methods to improve solutions. •　Prepare and present detailed reports and visualizations of statistical findings to stakeholders. •　Stay up to date with the latest statistical techniques and tools. •　Implement the department’s strategy and manage the team’s daily operations. •　Develop the team to meet future needs and ensure continuous improvement.

【Skills and Qualification】

•　Bachelors in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field. •　Minimum of 8 years of experience in a statistical role, preferably in product development, manufacturing or quality assurance. •　At least 2 years of experience in project management and a leadership role. •　Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. •　Critical and creative thinking. •　Ability to apply scientific methods to solve engineering and business problems. •　Proficiency in statistical software such as R, JMP, Python, or similar tools. •　Strong knowledge of functional data analysis and causal modeling techniques. •　Experience with experimental design and analysis (DoE). •　Proven track record of applying statistical methods to real-world problems. •　Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. •　Ability to communicate complex statistical concepts to non-statistical stakeholders. •　Comfortable working with stakeholders, engineers, and specialists from different domains and with different cultural backgrounds. •　A drive to learn, master, and promote data-driven technologies and techniques.

• Fluent English is required. • Mandarin or another language is a plus.
